(More customer reviews)Despite the product description denoting the figure as being from Jakks Pacific, it is actually the Kaiyodo-produced Ho-oh figure previously distributed with a pre-ordered copy of Pokémon HeartGold Version for the Nintendo DS, as the product image indicates. The figure is of high collectible value, and features a design created and sculpted by Kagawa Masahiko, whose other works include the counterpart Lugia figure, Pokémon Platinum Version's Giratina figure pre-order gift, and various designs and sculptures for the Pokémon Trading Figure Game. The design is incredibly well-crafted, and is very intricate in comparison to other Jakks or Tomy Pokémon figures, yet manages, like the other aforementioned figures, to remain faithful to Ho-oh's overall look as dictated by Ken Sugimori's artwork and various other interpretations of the Pokémon throughout the franchise. The figure is also very sturdy, and while Ho-oh's wings, feet, and head can be bent slightly back and forth, a heavy amount of force must be applied to permanently damage or warp the figure.
The figure stands approximately 2.3-2.4 inches tall (5.8-6.1 cm), and measures around 2 inches wide (5.1 cm). It comes inside a small plastic bag with gold writing denoting basic information/company logos, and the bag is located inside the figure's respective box, with the box having a gold-yellow crystal-like background design, picturing both Ho-oh's Ken Sugimori artwork on the top and front, and an image of the figure on both adjacent sides, as well as the Pokémon HeartGold Version logo, and small titles/descriptions around the box (i.e. "The Legendary Ho-oh!" or simply "Ho-oh Figure," pictured in English, French, and Spanish). All in all, an excellent, high quality, durable figure.
