(More customer reviews)The one Pokemon from Black and White that my daughter was the most excited about was Oshawott. It seemed like an eternity before official B&W merchandise hit shelves, and luckily, he was one of the mini plush from series 1. Hey, even I thought the little guy was super cute, and thought he was one of the better-designed water starters so far. Sadly, he was yet another low quality plush from this wave, and that hurts to say because he's so dang cute.
Oshawott stands at about 6 inches tall, and looks adorable...more or less. The eyes are stitched well, and all the materials are very soft. The blue they chose for this body color really pops and helps set him apart from the others in this wave. Sometimes he can stand on his own, but most of the time, he'll need to be propped up against something if you want to display him on a shelf.
Now for the problems- quality control. I've brought this up in most of my other B&W mini plush reviews, and it's here again. Poor Oshawott's mouth is so lopsided that it's goofy and makes me laugh whenever I see it. One side is curved normally, then the other side goes at a sharp angle. Believe it or not, I've seen many Oshawotts with this problem at the stores I've been to. Uneven stuffing is a problem as well, with the front of the head being flat while the rest is full. What bothers me the most though has to do with the design of the plush- Oshawott's shell on his stomach is a part of the body and made of the same material as the rest of him. It's not stitched on, or felt like Jirachi's ribbon-things. If I didn't know it was a shell in the drawings and sprite images I've seen, I'd assume it was just a spot on his stomach like what Miltank has. It doesn't have the black lines on it either, making it look less like a shell than it already does. As usual, this is just a problem I have with it, and kids who play with mini plush will most likely not care. I'm just disappointed after the great couple of waves we got from the previous mini plush Pokemon.
And just to go back into broken record mode- these Pokemon are still new and you can find them at most stores that carry Pokemon goods, so don't overpay on here when you can get them for 1/4 the price. But if you or your child wants a really cool Oshawott plush, go for the transforming one that just hit shelves last week that can turn into a Pokeball. It's bigger, only costs a little bit more, looks better, and has a cool extra feature.
