(More customer reviews)When I first saw the mini plush of Snivy, I didn't know what to say. This thing looked so cheap that I checked the tag several times to make sure that it was an official Pokemon mini plush by Jakks and not some Hong Kong knockoff. Nope, it's the real deal, and that's a shame. After getting incredible Pokemon like Jirachi, Celebi, Teddiursa and others, I thought everything was going to be good, and we weren't going to be getting plush that were under or over-stuffed, have loose stitching, and no more easily removable limbs. Snivy sure showed me that wasn't the case.
Snivy is the other big Pokemon of this wave, the other being Sandile. I was pretty surprised by the size when I saw it laying next to the others. His eyes, nostrils and mouth are stitched, and the colors match the original art from the game. I really like how the eyes look, giving him a sly expression. It looks great.
However, Snivy has a big problems. What knocks him down in the durability category (and brings him down in the overall rating) is the arms. They're a single layer of green fabric and aren't sewn on very well. My daughter got this plush over a month ago, but every time we go to a store that carries them, I check the other Snivy plushes, and all of them have arms that are poorly sewn on. If your kids have rough Pokemon battles, Snivy's arms aren't going to last more than a couple of matches if they're pulled around a lot. From what I've seen, he also seems to have the most problems with over/under-stuffing, and some of the tail leaves are cut oddly, rarely matching the stock picture's.
But Snivy fans will love this no matter what since it's the only plush available in the US at the moment. As for those Pokemon collectors out there, you might want to pass. And either way, you should pass on paying inflated prices on here- this series just came out recently, and still haven't arrived in some states. You can easily get these for retail as of of this typing.
