(More customer reviews)While Sandile is easily the best of the new Pokemon mini plush, Tepig isn't too far behind him. If it weren't for one glaring problem, it might have been a tie between the two. Anyone who loves the little fire pig should get one of these fast, because we all know how hard to find stuffed versions of the starters are once people start to notice these.
Tepig looks just like he does in the stock picture above, and his ears stand up perfectly on their own without flopping over. Tepig can also stand on its own without falling over or leaning forward thanks to good design and balance. All the colors look great and the eyes, nostrils and mouth are sewn in. I love the facial expression with the eyelids down and little smirk. Of all the fire Pokemon plush we have, Tepig is one of the few that stands out, next to Torkoal and Monferno.
But as I've said in my other reviews of the Black and White mini plush in this wave, quality is an issue. Many of the Tepigs I've seen have lopsided heads due to too much stuffing in one side of the head. Look around and you should find a pretty good one. My big problem that knocks the rating down to 4 out of 5 stars overall though, is how they made the tail. Surprisingly, it's curled up just like in all the artwork of the little pig Pokemon, but it's sewn against his body, and the red ball at the end seems to be a part of its backside rather than being its own thing. It looks really weird, and almost like a button more than anything else. I don't get why they couldn't have just used a pom pom or made a standard fabric ball and sewn it against the body instead of making it look like it's a part of it. It's an eye sore.
That's just something that bugged me, and I doubt many others will notice it, especially any kids that love this Pokemon. As usual, this is a pretty new toy and easily available at any stores that carry Pokemon stuff, so don't pay the online prices that are already up to 4 times standard retail.
