The problem is with the wheels. Each wheel is about 1.25 inches wide and made of hard plastic. Other rolling backpacks tend to use in-line skate type wheels that are thin, soft and placed as widely as possible at the base of the backpack. The wheels on this backpack are placed about 6.5 inches apart (on center measurement) while the backpack itself is about 12 inches wide. This causes the backpack to tip and roll over easily when being towed by a child. Another problem we encountered was when the nylon shoulder straps got caught and dragged under the wheels. The wide wheels caused the straps to scrape along the ground and they wore down to nothing after only a couple of days. Now, one shoulder strap is completely useless. It may be possible to keep the straps out of the wheels but one would have to do some serious improvising.
